THE Chopped & Changed Kustom Car Club has been running for six years and was founded by mates who loved working on cars.

The intention for the club was to get car lovers out and together around town as a group and bring them into Myrtleford through their Show ‘n ‘Shine, which also raises money for different community programs or

charities.

Club president Stefan Saric said that the future for the club is looking bright, and it is looking forward to running its October event after cancellations for the pasts two years due to the COVID pandemic.

While full membership has been capped at 50 members, Mr Saric said the committee wants to increase the numbers as years go on and the club grows.

“We like to keep the club more family orientated, with 50 people you can come and will know most people, but with 250 people you struggle to know who different people are,” he said.

“We are always open to welcoming social members who can join in in their regular car, and if they do have a show car, we have a one in, one out policy.”

The future of cars is going towards electric vehicles (EVs), with the introduction of Tesla and many manufacturers like Toyota, Ford and Hyundai making electric or hybrid versions of their cars.

Kustom car club members are excited about the opportunity and the challenge to change these classic petrol cars to electric.

“There is a good buzz around the club as we know that it’s the direction that the future is taking,” Mr Saric said.

“Some members have younger sons and daughters who might want to get into an old car, and electric being the way of the future.”
